How long does an assessment with a psychologist usually take?
3 hours, under normal circumstances. This includes assessment time and feedback to adult clients or parents/carers.
Will I stay with my child during assessment?
We find that children generally concentrate better if their parent(s) are not in the same room; however, you are very welcome to wait in the next room.
Will my child be entitled to examination access arrangements?
Do PsychEd psychologists assess adult clients and University students? Can you carry out assessments (e.g. dyslexia assessments) for people at work?
Yes. We have experience in completing such assessments.
Do PsychEd psychologists offer adult ADHD assessments?
Yes. We offering Adult ADHD assessments for people aged 17 and above. Suitable for College and University students and working people.
Do you assess working memory?
Yes, where appropriate.
Do you assess processing speed?
Yes, where appropriate.
Will you be able to explain on the assessment day if my child is dyslexic or not?
Usually, yes. Very occasionally further reflection would be required, if the pattern of needs is not clear.
Are all PsychEd psychologists approved by the British Psychological Society and Health Professionals Council?
Yes. We also have up to date CRB checks.
How long before I receive a formal written report?
Within 15 working days, but like to exceed expectations so often produce them quicker. If it is urgent, please ask and we will do our very best to accommodate you.
When and how should I pay for the assessment?
A week before the assessment, using BACS or phoning to make a card payment.
What happens if a psychologist finds difficulties in a medical area, for example, speech and language or motor skills difficulties?
The psychologist will suggest further assessment by other professionals where appropriate.
Is there any follow-up after the assessment?
